Our mission is to keep El Cerrito fire safe by advocating for and working toward the reduction of the fuel load on public and private property, to create clearly marked and passable evacuation routes and to educate the public about and to motivate them to fire harden their structures and create defensible space around their homes.
Our Priorities…
Mitigate and maintain all vegetation within the city limits that pose a fire hazard both on city and private property.
Strengthen the vegetation management code (see Mill Valley) and continue to enforce it with zero tolerance year round.
Clear evacuation routes of interfering vegetation, on red flag days make parking on one side of road only
Work with City Council and City Manager to make preventing a mega-fire in EC the top priority of the city and reflect this in the next 2-year budget with dedicated funds toward this priority.
Community Education programs to educate on importance of wildfire preparation including creating and maintaining defensible space around house and house hardening.
Continue to advocate for more clearing and maintenance in Wildcat Canyon and other EBRPD lands.
